Jeremy Lin Fortune Cookie: All-American Chinese!

I’m loving Lin-mania like half of the globe is now, but being a foodie, I really wanted a Lin and FOOD link! There MUST be one–c’mon, we’re Chinese–food is our middle name!

Courtesy of my web-surfing-king Dad, the Chinese American Jeremy Lin “miracle” is paired with the legendary, Chinese American fortune cookie! ) How amusing and ironic…

Following the Knicks’ seventh straight win on Wednesday night, Madison Square Garden (MSG, another food pun irony, I love it!) showed viewers an image featuring guard Jeremy Lin’s head in between ends of a broken fortune cookie with the sentence “The Knicks’ Good Fortune” on a piece of paper.

The fortune cookie is a long-standing mystery and myth which is actually an American invention by most accounts, dating back to San Francisco in the late 1890's and is based on a Japanese cracker. Fortune cookies are not served in China! (Fortune Cookie Chronicles by Jennifer 8. Lee)

I have an old poster plastered in all the fortunes from the hundreds of cookies consumed while I worked at the family restaurant all those years. Long live the All-American Chinese, Jeremy Lin--and fortune cookies!
