We got lucky with the severe weather forcasts and had a dry and successful Taste of Atlanta debut!
The rice rollies were a huge hit with kids and parents as it was sitting-room only at the “hands-on” station. We flattened, folded and flipped these lunchbox treats, taught a chopsticks lesson (not piano, but bamboo version) and had the crowd in a chorus of Chinese greetings, numbers and the trademark CSB greeting, “Ni Hao, Y’all!”
My mom presented the pictograph origins of Chinese characters for person, big, little, moon, sun, heart and mouth. I was also invited to emcee the earlier presentation by LE Seydel, granddaughter of Ted Turner, who fixed her favorite Eat Your Veggies salad and did a book-signing! Big THANKS to CSB volunteer assistants, Lena and Josh. We’re so glad you came!
After our demo, we enjoyed tastings at Madras “butter chicken curry”; Morelli’s “ginger/lavender and jalapeno” ice cream; Paschal’s fried chicken; Sweet Tea’s fried catfish; super creamy/rich Greek yogurt at Fage; and MK’s favorite clam chowder from Legal Seafood. Pics coming soon…
